Catching up

I am finally getting some pictures from late winter on the blog.  It is funny to see these snow pictures when it is green and sunny and 75 degrees out.  It makes me dread next winter when I see it, but of course the dogs don’t mind.  These pictures are heavy on Ginger Snap for some reason.  Right now, we are keeping an eagle eye on Truffle because we plan to breed her soon.

Typical Icies

Nothing special today, just some photos from the past few weeks that make me smile.

One of their favorite places to hang out is the stair landing where they can keep an eye on critical activities in the yard without expending too much energy.  Sam on top, then Ginger and Truffle, and Ginger.

It is not unusual to see Ginger draped over the arm of the couch. Obviously, we don’t keep anything on the end tables.  You set your tea down there at your own risk.

Fall Miscellany

I downloaded a copy of Windows Live Writer, and wow, how much easier it makes it to upload pictures to WordPress.  WordPress has a very dorky cumbersome interface to put pictures in the blog, unless you want to use their gallery feature.  With Live Writer, you can set up your post in a Word-like environment, and then click Publish, and it puts the whole thing in your blog.

Here are some recent pictures of dogs and pretty fall color.

Here you can see that Ginger is bigger at nine months than Truffle.

Visit to East Tennessee

We spent a week in northeast Tennessee, near Cherokee National Forest.  Here are a few pictures from the area.  This is a little park in Jonesborough.

Here and there you see terrible infestations of kudzu, which can grow a foot a day and totally smothers everything in its path.

Waterfall at Blue Hole, north of Elizabethton.  This is in a beautiful little gorge, with numerous other small falls as the creek cascades down the mountain.

I think this was also at Blue Hole, but I am not sure, because we saw so many lovely creeks, and I get the pictures confused.

Truffle finishes Rally Novice

Truffle completed her Rally Novice Title at Lehigh Valley Kennel Club and Berks County Kennel Club, on September 18 and 19, 2010, in Macungie, PA. On Saturday, under Stephen Hersey, she got a 99 and 4th place. On Sunday, with Judge Arthur Cartwright, she got 96 and placed 2nd. She worked beautifully on Saturday, very alert and focused. Sunday she had distracted times and focused times. I was very pleased with her both days. Saturday she was quite excited being on the show grounds, and had quite a few moments of woofing and I spent more time getting her calmed down. Sunday she felt more at home more quickly after getting to the show. I have to watch her because she will guard her crate and my chair, and me too, so I have to be alert to who is coming by us. She is not a dog you can just wander around paying no attention to.

These nice photos were taken by my training friend Pat, who was not showing that weekend and concentrated on taking pictures of various friends who were in the trial. Thanks so much, Pat!

Visit from Micah

Micah had a good time with the dogs on his summer visit, and of course they loved it too.

Ginger is losing patience with the photo session.

Hey, let’s play instead!
